Thatcham's bank holiday blues
Thatcham Town manager Yashwa Romeo insists it's "not time to panic" but that he is looking to improve his squad following a disappointing start to their Isthmian League South Central season.
Thatcham lost twice over the bank holiday weekend, losing 2-1 at home to Leatherhead on Saturday before a 2-0 defeat at Uxbridge on Monday.
The results leave the Kingfishers without a win in their first four this season and languishing in 18th in the table, a point off the bottom.
"It wasn't great, we weren't good enough," Romeo said.
"I was disappointed we didn't come away with anything from Leatherhead.
"I thought we had more chances than them, we created more than them, but, again, we're just not putting the ball in the back of the net.
"We're giving teams goals, we're making little mistakes, we're not being hard to beat.
"Uxbridge was the most disappointing, we were in the game at 0-0 at half time, we played well.
"Second half we couldn't even pass the ball to each other, it was that bad, it was embarrassing.
"I don't know what happened to our defending, we parted like the Red Sea.
"If I'm being totally honest, I think we need to bring in two or three new players.
"I'm in the market, I've already been looking.
"I need to keep players on their toes, the weekend was unacceptable, I won't have that.
"We'll work hard on the training pitch, it's a long old season."
Next up for Romeo's side is a trip to Cinderford in the FA Trophy first qualifying round on Saturday, September 10.
The Foresters knocked Thatcham out on penalties last season but Romeo will be hoping for a first Kingfishers win of the campaign this time around.
