Burnham win leaves drop zone behind
THATCHAM scored a vital win to boost their survival chances in Division Two B of the Morrant Thames Valley League when winning by 58 runs at Burnham II.
The result left the Buckinghamshire side stuck in the bottom two with Thatcham three places clear of the drop zone.
Kieren Wood’s maiden league century steered Thatcham to 274-4 when the declaration came after 49 overs as his 131 was supported by Peter Spriggs’ 73 and Jack Young’s 44.
Josh O’Flynn’s 3-32 off 12 overs tipped the balance as Burnham were dismissed for 214 inside 43 overs as Thatcham claimed maximum points.
FALKLAND had to settle for carving out a draw when holding Boyne Hill to a draw in Division One and slipping into fifth place.
Visiting Boyne Hill posted 307-6 in 50 overs with the home attack taking some heavy punishment at times.
Falkland were 3-2 before James Bird (55) and Will Langmead (40) rallied the cause, but it was Daminda Kolugala’s unbeaten 78 that secured safety at 202-8.
NEWBURY kept themselves in the top four in Division Three A when beating Finchampstead by 26 runs in a low-scoring game at Northcroft.
Newbury’s all out total of 94 off 35 overs was not much to defend, but Charlie Anstey ripped out 7-39 as the visitors were dismissed for 68 in the 20th over.
Falkland II veterans Peter Randall and Mark Baker took four and three wickets respectively as their side won by three runs away to their Reading counterparts, coming out non top by 210-207 runs over the full 100 overs.
