Blues look doomed after another defeat
A heavy defeat to fellow strugglers Westcombe Park leaves Newbury rooted to the bottom of the table

NEWBURY BLUES look doomed to a third successive relegation after slumping to a heavy defeat at the hands of fellow basement strugglers Westcombe.
Park had not won a home league game all season, but they swept aside Blues with ease as they raced into a 26-0 lead inside 15 minutes and were never in any danger of surrendering their advantage.
The scoreline was given a faint tint of respectability when Joe Kava and Oscar Matthews scored stoppage time tries to add to skipper Martin Freeman's first half touchdown, but the home side ran in 11 scores with Johnny Coleman and Tom Hockedy helping themselves to hat-tricks, Zane Winslade to a brace and Tim Kavanagh, Reid Bradford and Kieren Leeper to one apiece.
The result leaves Newbury 26 points adrift of the safety zone, with only eight games to play, commencing with the visit of title-chasing Jersey on Saturday.
