Blues lose out to the World Cup

Team re-shuffle needed as players head to Twickenham

NEWBURY BLUES will be without a third of their side for Saturday’s visit of Leighton Buzzard as they are off to Twickenham to watch the World Cup semi-fnal between South Africa and New Zealand.

“Our first team resources are going to be stretched,” said head coach Lee Goodall.

“We are losing about five players to semi-final tickets and there will have to be some changes,” he said.

Blues are also without scrum half Joe Pigott, who suffered a concussion during Blues’ first defeat of the season at Salisbury two weekends ago and has a mandatory 14-day rest period.

Andy Herriott takes the number nine shirt and Blues will also have to re-shuffle their regular front row with two of the three on ‘World Cup duty.’

Thatcham are at Marlow, bidding to get off the bottom of Southern Counties North while unbeaten Berks, Bucks and Oxon Premier Leaguers Tadley Tigers are at third in the table Gosford All Blacks. Hungerford look for their first win of the season against mid-table Slough at The Triangle.
