Blues see red as Grove end unbeaten away record
Bonus point consolation but Blues slip down the table
NEWBURY BLUES’ game with Maidenhead at Monks Lane on Saturday assumed even greater urgency when they went down 19-18 at Grove on Saturday in South West One East.
Blues picked up their second red card of the season when back row Ryan Davis was sent off when they were trailing 12-5, and although the 14-men got close, the result saw the slip to fourth in the table, four points behind Maids, who scored a 22-15 win at Witney.
Thatcham moved into fifth place in Southern Counties North with a 49-10 home win over Gosford All Blacks, but Hungerford saw their 100 per cent record in the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Premier Division ended when they went down 46-20 at Slough, who were recording their first win of the campaign.
Tadley were 21-0 home winners over Chesham.
