Bottom rocking again for Falkland
Having crashed tot Harefield the previous week, the Middlesex side were sent back to the basement spot when Gerrards Cross handed Falkland a five wicket beating in Middlesex to hoist themselves off the bottom rung.
Falkland’s batting again let them down after they were inserted by the hosts. Although Bruce Martin and Sam Piper set off soundly with 22 apiece in a stand of 39, half the batsmen had gone for 84.
Danny Williams stuck fast for nine not out, but Mark Foster’s 24 was all that propelled Falkland into three figures before they were bowled out for 123 in the 59th over with Paul Muchall sweeping up 4-19 in his 16 overs-plus.
Falkland saw hope when they reduced the home side to 29-2 with Joel and Bruce Martin claiming a wicket apiece, but Muchall (36), Michael Ready (7) and Ben Harris (30 not out) did enough to take their side over the finishing line to 124-5 in the 39th over for a 25-point return. Falkland collected six points and now trail leaders Dinton by 39.
