Bowler Ben heads Euro rankings
He leads the 15-18 boys section after the Zuiderpark Tournament held at Den Haag, although he will miss out on going to the final event at Ossnabrueck in Germany.
Howison-Johnstone is sidelined as he will be on Team England duty in the European Youth Championships in Aalborg, Denmark next week. But the Reading Sports College student's average of 246 over eight games in Holland takes him to 355 points, 25 clear of second-placed Joshua Schuurman of Holland.
And that standing as the current number one on the tour has already secured his place at the Trophy's masters final to be held at Rouen in France on May 18.
Next year's youth tour is set to kick off at the Lakeside Bowl in September, but Howison-Johnsone is likely to miss that date as he is hoping to take up a Bowling America Scholarship at Lindenwood University in Illinois in August, combining college studies with bowling on the American colleges circuit.
