Crusaders on the hunt for new frontman after Bremang ruled out for rest of season
Hungerford Town boss Danny Robinson has confirmed his side are in the market for a new striker after David Bremang was ruled out for the rest of the season with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
Bremang, who scored four goals in his first four Hungerford starts and has been vital in the Crusaders' recent resurgence, limped off at the beginning of last Tuesday’s 1-0 win over relegation rivals Cheshunt.
That meant Robinson was left with little choice but to rush Dan Roberts, who was returning from a hamstring strain he sustained at the end of January, back for the Crusaders' 2-1 defeat to Worthing at the weekend.
The loss of Bremang, whose goals fired Hungerford to within a point of National League South safety prior to kick-off on Saturday, leaves Dartford loanee Roberts as the Crusaders' only recognised striker ahead of the relegation run-in and Robinson will doubtless to be desperate to add to his attacking options this week.
“David’s a massive loss,” Robinson said.
“He’s out for the rest of the season which is absolutely heart-breaking because we think he’s a real gem.
“These things are here to test us, that’s why you manage at this level and we want to try and get another centre-forward through the door if we can.
“Dan’s still not 100 per cent fit, he’s probably only about 75 per cent there.
“I thought he showed real character to stand up and be counted for us and the physio, Robyn, did brilliantly to get him to where he is.
“He was fantastic bearing in mind he had half a hamstring.”
Hungerford welcome 14th placed Welling to Bulpit Lane this weekend.
