Newbury Sunday League: Brimpton Rangers put a stop to NWX record

NWX FC saw their 100 per cent record come to an end on Sunday as they drew 1-1 with Brimpton Rangers in Division 1 of the Newbury Sunday League.

The result still leaves NWX three points clear at the top of the division after 10 games, while Brimpton are in third place – seven points behind their opponents.

Elsewhere, Cold Ash secured an impressive 5-2 win away to Black Horse.

The three points for Cold Ash has seen them move back into the title race and they’re now three points behind NWX, with both sides playing the same amount of games.

In the other two games, Furze Bush Inn beat Elm Park Athletic 3-0, while AFC Bedwyn suffered a 3-2 home defeat to Newbury Bootleggers.

The win for Newbury was their first of the season and they are now three points behind Elm Park after 10 games, with them having two games in hand on the team above.

Furze Bush moved above AFC Bedwyn after their win over Elm Park.

Taste of England cruised into the semi-final of the Lambourn Cup after a 4-1 win away to AFC Hermitage.

Elsewhere, Paggies Bar are also into the last four of the competition after they recorded a 4-0 win over Thatcham Tornadoes.

Will Edwards scored twice for the home side, while further goals from Zach Tull and Ross Lawrence secured Paggies’ play in the semi-final.

Bucklebury received an away walkover against Cottage Inn and it sends them into the semi-final of the Lambourn Cup.
