There were penalty appeals at both ends of the pitch, but Banstead continued to boss the possession and drew level with just under 10 minutes of the first-half remaining, as Charlie Moore finished following a cross from the right that came back off the bar.

Burghfield retook the lead just before the hour mark, with a Howell free-kick from the left headed into his own net by an opposition defender.

Their lead was extended with 15 minutes remaining.

A slip from the Banstead goalkeeper allowed Lewis Butcher to nick the ball away from him before being bought down, with Howell converting the penalty low and hard into the bottom left corner.

Banstead continued to push forward forcing a couple of saves from Liam Royden in the home goal, and a fantastic headed goal-line clearance from James McClellan.

As the game entered stoppage time, Lewis Butcher was bought down on the halfway line as he was through on goal, leaving the referee no option but to produce a red card for the Banstead defender.

With time running out, Rhys Iremonger sealed a deserved victory with the pick of the goals, cutting in from the left side and unleashing an unstoppable strike that left the goalkeeper no chance.

With their place in the last 16, Burghfield will now travel to Highgate Albion FC on Sunday, February 13.
