Carys Cox thrilled at re-signing with Worcester Warriors ahead of Allianz Premier 15s season

Carys Cox is determined to help Worcester Warriors progress even further as they prepare for another season in the Women’s Allianz Premier 15s.

The 22-year-old has made the retention list and will be competing in her fourth season with the club, having joined from Bristol in 2018.

Cox, a former Park House student, admitted that was an easy decision to make when she was offered to remain at Sixways.

“The enjoyment that I have had in the last few seasons has been phenomenal and it was a no brainer, I didn’t even have to question it.

“It is my fourth season now and personal development as well as team development has been great and we’re aiming for top four now.

“We have made some big signings and there will be some more to come in and the pre-season we have had has been great and our first game is only a month away.”

Cox scored a try on the opening day of the 2020/21 season and featured heavily in Warriors’ last few months of training after overcoming an injury.

Warriors finished the campaign in seventh place and although it was their highest ever finish, Cox believes they have what it takes to move further forward.

“There was a lot of positives to take, but there were games where we lost by a small margin and if we had won them, we would have been higher in the table.

“We have to make sure we execute everything, in order to achieve things that we didn’t do last season and plans are in place to do that.”

“Everyone on the team works ridiculously hard and the set-up we have now is miles and leaps ahead of what we have had in previous years.

“Everyone has been held accountable for their own actions and everyone is working for the same goal, everyone is motivated by eachother and we know what we need to do.”
