Clark makes amends with winner
Thatcham lay Bishops 'bogey' with a late winner but Hungerford are washed out at Cinderford
JAMES Clark turned from villain to hero when he netted a late penalty to account for Thatcham's ‘bogey' side Bishops Cleeve at Waterside Park on Saturday.
Clark had seen a weak penalty saved by Cleeve goalkeeper Tom King, and it looked as if Thatcham's lean run against the Gloucestershire side would continue until Sam Tucker's cross fell perfectly for Clark to finish with five minutes to go.
Thatcham could have had the points wrapped up much earlier but Clark and Charlie Mpi missed openings, Clark missing the worst form the spot with 15 minutes remaining after Cleeve skipper Steve Jones had handled in the box.
Thatcham are back at Waterside Park on Tuesday night when promotion-chasing Sholing are the visitors.
Hungerford Town's game at Cinderford on Saturday was rained off and they also return to action on Tuesday night when Abingdon United visit Bulpit Lane.
