Club's fate in others' hands

Defeat leaves Volleyball Club hoping for a re-shuffle to stave off relegation

NEWBURY are hoping for an end-of-season re-shuffle to hang onto their place in Division Two South of the National Volleyball League.

Saturday's 3-1 defeat at the hands of leaders Tendring at Bradfield leaves them stuck to second-to-bottom spot in the table and hoping that a withdrawal from higher up the ladder will save them from the drop.

It was always going to be a tough call for Newbury to pull something out of the hat against a Tendring side fielding two full England internationals, two England juniors and a GB students player, as well as four players of six foot eight-plus and Tendring scored a 3-1 win to leave Newbury looking to administrators for salvation.
