Cold Ash win Newbury Benevolent Cup final

Newbury Benevolent Cup Final 2014
COLD ASH FC 3 OLD BELL UTD 1
This fixture attracted a large number of supporters from both teams on the bank holiday.
It was to be the last contest played for the oldest cup competition in the Newbury and District Sunday League.
From next season the Cup will reside in the Newbury museum, and will be replaced with the Jim Wild Memorial Shield, in recognition of the late Jim Wild, who passed away earlier in the season.
The Old Bell took an early lead, and went into halftime with the one goal advantage.
After the break, Cold Ash were quickly back on level terms with a goal from John Taylor.
From this point on, Cold Ash gained the upper hand, going from strength to strength as they looked for a winner.
The Old Bell had given it their all in the first half, and were unable to hold a resurgent Cold Ash side.
They were reduced to ten men after a straight red card was issued for a foul by their last man, and Cold Ash took full advantage, with two goals late on from Marc Piper sealing a historic victory.
