Corby point 'felt like a win'

.
The visitors had withstood immense pressure in the first period and fell behind early in the second period when Wilson Carvalho steered a header past Paul Strudley from Greg Mills’ free kick.
But Hungerford immediately threw on substitutes Alan O’Brien, Charlie Mpi and James Pilling and soon hit back to equalise when Pilling’s long throw was nodded on by Mpi for Mark Draycott to turn home.
And the visitors might have won it when O’Brien raced away alone only to shoot into the side netting before the winger might have taken another chance but instead unselfishly tried to set up Draycott, only for Paul Malone so make a saving interception.
“That point felt like a win,” said Wilkinson. “They had played eight and won eight but we came with a game plan and we might have nicked it.”
Hungerford are in local cup action on Tuesday night when they make their first trip to
Barlows Park in the Basingstoke Senior Cup.
Hungerford will take their first team to the Wessex Leaguers but plan to mix and match with six academy players called into the ranks for experience.
“We’ll take all the first team,” said Wilkinson, “but we want to give some of the academy a taste of it and see how we do against a very good Tadley side.”
