Local athletes score in BB and O centenary championships at Bracknell
TWO local runners were among the golden winners at the 100th anniversary Berks, Bucks and Oxon Cross Country Championships staged at Swinley Forest on Sunday.
One of the oldest cross country events in the country, first staged in 1911, Newbury Athletics Club and Team Kennet made their marks in individual and team events.
Team Kennet's Nathan Gillis (pictured) won the under 15 boys race and led his team to the silver award, while Newbury AC's Sophie Crumly swept home in the senior women's race to improve upon her runners-up spot of last year.
Her team also claimed second prize in their competition.
