Bishop's Stortford downed as Hungerford maintain unbeaten start in new league
Bishop’s Stortford 1 Hungerford Town 2
HUNGERFORD’S National League march continued as they came from behind to maintain their unbeaten south division start in Hertfordshire on Tuesday night.
They had early chances through James Clark and Matt Day before falling behind when George Legg could only knock down the ball for Chase O’Neill to lob back over the line.
Legg saved well from Kyle Asante before Hungerford began to get on top and Luke Williams brought a fine save out of Joe Wright before Hungerford levelled the scores when Matt Day’s shot squirmed past the goalkeeper and Mike Jones was on hand to score.
The winner came from Williams after Garyn Preen latched onto Legg’s clearance to go wide and cross for Williams to force the ball home at the second attempt and take Hungerford into second place in the table, held off the top by Weston-Super-Mare on goal difference only.
