Crusaders set for crucial clash ahead of relegation grudge match with Dulwich

Hungerford Town boss Danny Robinson has labelled Saturday’s visit of Dulwich Hamlet as one of the biggest games in the club’s history.

The Crusaders can still overhaul Dulwich after they beat Taunton Town 3-0 in Somerset on Tuesday night.

Goals from Michael Fernandes, Jake Evans and Joe Boachie ensured Hungerford moved to within seven points of Saturday’s visitors with three games left to secure National League South survival.

Robinson’s side were a shadow of their usual selves when losing twice in three days last week but were firing on all cylinders when winning a crucial three points on Tuesday.

"When we woke up this morning, all we wanted was to make sure we were still in with a chance," Robinson said.

"The lads were magnificent tonight, right from the first whistle."

Robinson opted for an attacking line up, sticking with a flat back four and making use of the width provided by Taunton's pitch by setting up with two wingers and two forwards.

He was rewarded for his attacking selection with goals from both Fernandes and Boachie, two players who haven't established themselves as regulars in the side since their arrivals.

"We did our homework and we wanted to take advantage of Taunton's wide pitch," Robinson said.

"I've known Michael for a while now and he's a real talent, he's got pace and a lot of ability.

"We went with a back four tonight.

"Kyle Bailey wasn't available and I'll be honest he'd have played instead of Jerry (Gyebi), but Jerry was magnificent tonight.

"Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't but thankfully it did tonight."

Hungerford welcome Dulwich Hamlet to Bulpit Lane this weekend knowing only a win will keep their hopes of survival alive.

Robinson said: "It's one of the biggest games in Hungerford Town's history.

"If we can play like we did tonight, we can beat anybody."
