Day's night as Hungerford hit the top

The former Oxford United player scored all three of his side’s goals - and added Shortwood’s to his haul for good measure as Hungerford nipped above Poole Town on goal difference in Division One South and West.
Day broke the deadlock five minutes after the break when he pounced on a defensive error before deflecting Joe Tustain’s cross past Paul Strudley for Shortwood’s od;s equaliser.
But Day went back to the other end to convert assists from Sean Wood as Hungerford ensured they will go into the weekend heading the rest.
Newbury are in action tonight (Tuesday) when they entertain Wokingham and Emmbrook in the Hellenic League’s Premier Division at Faraday Road.
