Welsh Masters silver and bronze for Newbury athlete Dave Shields at Championships in Swansea
Newbury’s Dave Shields won silver in the M60 triple jump at the Welsh Masters Championship in Swansea.
For the third time since July, Shields broke the M60 Reading AC club record after clearing a distance of 8.57m.
After achieving this success, he then moved onto the long jump and he managed to jump a distance of 3.92m – his best result in over two years.
It was the same distance as the silver medalist, but using countback his second best jump was four centre metres better and therefore Shields had to settle for bronze.
The outdoor season has now concluded and he will be back in action once the indoor season begins next month.
Team Kennet under 15 girls were crowned joint age group winners in the Wessex League age group tables this season, only losing one match all season.
The under 17 men also came third place overall in their age group league, again only losing one match all season.
