Hungerford stage incredible comeback from 4-0 down to seal cup win from the spot

HUNGERFORD produced a stunning revival that saw them rally from 4-0 down after 34 minutes to earn their place in the next round of the Red Insure League Cup after a spot-kick decider.

Elliott Osborne-Rickett’s goal after two minutes was followed by further efforts from Zak Westlake, John Else and Michael Hopkins as Hungerford’s fielding of an entirely different side to that which won at Frome on Saturday - including four Academy youngsters - seemed to be backfiring.

But a second half onslaught paid off with academy graduates Conor Lynch and substitute Chris Passey among the scorers after Harry Goodger had made the initial breakthrough and Dean Stow had added number three.

That meant a spot-kick finish in which Goodger, Stow, Matt Collins and Alan O’Brien all netted and young goalkeeper Oliver Harrison crucially saved from Hopkins to seal a remarkable turnaround.
