East Woodhay end on a high

Electing to bat after winning the toss, on the hottest day of the season, looked to have backfired on Woodhay, as they limped to 56-2 after 20.
Only a quick-fire 23 from Will Flack released Tadley’s grip on the contest, as Woodhay attempted to set a defendable total.
Anchoring the innings, as he has done all season, Tom Flack, firstly with Nick Bird (23), and then Tristan Stockwell, set about putting runs on the board.
Finding his range after a slow start, he batted beautifully for a measured 72.
Although he fell near the death, Stockwell remained undefeated for a crucial 40, as Woodhay posted 180-7 from their 45.
Woodhay needed their new-ball pair to at least equal Tadley’s opening attack if they were to stand any chance of victory.
Not only did they do that, they surpassed it as Alan Williams (3-16) and Craig Stephens (2-26) reduced Tadley to 34-5.
Aided by two sharp slip catches by Will Flack, Williams in particular, terrorised Tadley’s top-order as they never recovered from their dreadful start.
Stockwell (2-31), along with Hodgekiss (3-8) wrapped up a fine victory inside 35 overs as Tadley crumbled to 118 not out.
