Harefield came to Wash Common with both sides looking for a first win of the campaign and it looked as if Falkland would break their duck after the bowled out the visitors for a modest 108 in only 85 minutes.
Openers Simon Macey (16) and Richard McLeod (25) put on 46 with no sign of what was to come as Rehman Akram and James Morris claimed the pair and Akram went on to take 4-20 in five overs, Jon Gaffney taking 3-10 inside four overs, including the wickets of main lines of late resistance George Shiel for 12 and Lee Tyrrell for 13 as Harefield capitulated inside 23 of the 50 overs.
But Falkland’s reply barely lasted longer with only Tom Heath (14) and Matt Jones (12) reaching double figures (14) as they were all out for 102 in an over less with Shield and Dan Evans claiming two wickets apiece in a game that had more of the Twenty20 about it.
