Falkland held in Hertfordshire

A draw with Welwyn Garden City was enough to see Falkland climb off the bottom of the Home Counties Premier League

FALKLAND are still searching for their first win of the season after being held to a draw at Welwyn Garden City on Saturday.

However, Falkland's 13-point haul in Hertfordshire lifted them off the bottom of the Home Counties Premier League at the expense of Radlett, who crashed to an eight-wicket defeat against Henley.

Batting first, Falkland lost early wickets, but the middle order rallied to help the West Berkshire side amass 172-8 from 52 overs.

In reply, Welwyn Garden City reached 132-8 from 43 overs, picking up seven points from the match.

The result sees Falkland climb to ninth in the league table - nine points ahead of Radlett and eight behind Bishop's Stortford.

Falkland entertain third-placed Banbury next Saturday, who lost to league leaders High Wycombe by three wickets on Saturday.
