Falkland race to a junior double by the fours

A good entry from local schools saw the primary schools events particularly well supported with a number of small village schools making a first appearance in the event.
But it was Falkland who claimed both boys and girls prizes for primary schools, with all of the junior events run as 4 x 400 metre races.
The Falkland A team clocked an impressive 59.5 seconds in the boys final with St Nicholas A and Falkland B in the next two places while the girls was also won by the Falkland A squad, which just edged out St. Gabriel’s A with Speenhamland A in third place.
Kennet won all five of the events for senior boys with St. Bartholomew’s taking the runners-up spots.
But St. Bart’s won the year seven and year eight sprint relays for girls and the year 10 medley relay run over 600 metres.
Downe House claimed the 4 x 100m relay for year nine girls and the over 15 years 1400m medley event while St.Helen and St. Katherine’s school from Abingdon took part for the first time.
