Falkland seal Division One title in style with emphatic display

Knowing there was a chance of winning the league and getting promoted with one game to spare, Falkland 1st looked to capitalise on their advantage at the top.

Mid-table Marlow stood in the way of a perfect end to the season, as title rivals Tring Park travelled to third placed Boyne Hill.

Skipper James Bird backed his side to chase down another total, winning the toss and electing to field.

This plan was executed right from the off, with Brandon Gilmour bowling the league's leading run scorer Harvey Brennan out for just 9.

Gilmour then struck again to dismiss Jonathan Pears for 15, and shortly after bowled Will Bovill for his third.

At 38-4, Marlow looked to be in trouble, the middle order however attempted to do some recovering.

That was before Lachie Field took the wicket of Huraira Arif to leave Marlow five down, with the 6th following quickly, again courtesy of Field.

Marlow would set a chaseable total of 148, as Gilmour finished with figures of 29-5.

Bird and Gilmour headed to the crease looking to continue their good form up top.

Making a strong start, the first wicket fell at 59, with Gilmour getting caught for 24.

Field then joined Bird and continued to pile on runs, until the captain was caught on 41.

Field and Richard Morris edged Falkland closer to the target, before Field was trapped LBW on 36.

James Morris joined his brother at the crease briefly, as he was dismissed for just one.
