Falkland suffer another setback
Without a league win all season and reeling from being docked 12 points by the league, they again failed to answer the call with the bat and now find themselves 44 points adrift of the field going into the final third of the campaign.
The Falkland attack did its job against the home side once openers Simon Macey and Chamunorwa Chibhabha had been split at 47 when Mark Foster snapped up the latter behind for 23 off skipper Bruce Martin.
Martin went on to reel in 4-62 and veteran Nigel Trumper 3-32, but nobody could displace number four Akshay Reddy as he carved out an unbeaten 90 off 112 balls before running out of partners at 189 in the 55th over.
But Falkland’s batting confidence has been shallow this season and although Martin (32) and Matt Jones steered the visitors to 50-1, the latter’s loss for 13 caused a slump to 62-4 with Martin going for 32 and James Morris for eight.
Ryan Gilmour (31) and Rehman Akram (19) put together the innings’ best stand of 45, but the last six wickets capitulated for only nine runs as Falkland were all out for 118 in only the 31st over.
