First half goals make it unlucky 13 for Bedford

With a Tuesday home game against Truro on the immediate agenda prior to Saturday’s FA Trophy tie with Chesham United, Hungerford did what was necessary in the opening 45 minutes before easing back and settling for the points.
Both goals came from central midfielders Luke Brewer and Ian Herring with fellow engine room member Dean Stow involved in both.
Stow played in Brewer with a superb chip over the defence for Brewer to finish powerfully, and Stow was involved in the build-up before Herring curled the ball home from the edge of the area.
In between, Gary Horgan twice clamped shut on Bedford’s Andy Phillips and Jordan Davis but goalkeeper Paul Strudley was rarely troubled despite Bedford enjoying a healthy share of possession.

Town in seventh hell

Thatcham were two-down inside four minutes to goals from Ellis Dunton and Sean Wood and two more soon followed from Shane Bumphrey and Lee Smith.
Thatcham had Paul Taplin sent off after the break after collecting two yellow cards, while Cirencester coasted home with further goals from Jody Bevan, Brad Hooper and Smith’s second.
Thatcham are in home action on Tuesday night when lowly Godalming Town are the visitors to Waterside Park.

Ascot overturn Shaw double

.
Newbury led at the break with another goal from Bradley Shaw and he doubled his and his side’s tally early in the second period when converting from the penalty spot after he had been brought down in the box after beating three defenders in a mazy run.
Ascot missed a penalty before Alex Rodriguez volleyed home and Matt Jones scrambled the equaliser.
Newbury had Ben Wickens sent off for a handball and second yellow card, and Ascot broke the home side’s resistance when Jenner was again penalised and this time Ian Brooks netted from the spot, and Andy Dean wrapped it up three minutes from time.
Newbury travel to Brimscombe and Thrupp for a re-arranged game on Tuesday night.
