Five in a row for Town

TWO first half goals condemned Thatcham to their 14th league defeat in 18 outings and their fifth in a row.
Both goals were headed in by Alex Paine as he found a way past the one-man wall that was goalkeeper Aaron Bufton. Bufton made a string of fine saves to limit Saints’ scoring but he could do nothing when Paine put the home side ahead midway through the first half when a corner was allowed to bounce around inside the six yard box and Paine got the vital header.
Bufton saved from Brad Wadkins, Jerome Okimo and Michael Lewis as the hosts dominated, eventually stretching their lead just before the break when Paine headed home in similar style to his opening goal.
Thatcham improved after the break but struggled to find a way through, while Bufton continued to defy Saints with saves from Alan Hedley and Paine again, but he nudged his effort onto the bar to deny the forward his hat-trick.
Two late goals ended
