Flynn takes badminton title
Hermitage starlet, Max Flynn, defeated his old rival Dave Jones to take the Berkshire under 13 closed title
HERMITAGE badminton starlet Max Flynn claimed the Berkshire under 13 Closed title when he beat old rival Dave Jones in the tournament at Woodley Woodford Park.
Jones, the nationally ranked number one at under 13 level and almost 100 places above Flynn in the overall national rankings at 294, had beaten the 12-year old Down School pupil in last year's tournament.
But Flynn led the way this time around, winning the decisive match in straight sets to leave Jones with runners-up spot and Mark Wilson and Euan Farrow in the next two placings.
Flynn and Jones also teamed up to win the doubles from Thomas Barnden and Mark Wilson.
They will also team up for the England age group squad in the Belgian International tournament over Easter, but prior to that have the English National Age Group titles ot ciontest at the University of the West Frenchay Campus in Bristol on March 19 and 20.
