Newbury Netball League: Fusion leave their mark after beating Jets Black




Fusion Group are top of the Newbury Netball League Premier Division after a 59-39 victory over Jets Black.

Fusion took control from the early stages and continued to extend their advantage throughout the quarters.

At the end of the third quarter, they held a 45-25 lead and despite the best efforts from Jets, they were unable to find a way back into the contest.

Brights also sit high up the table after a second win of the season as they beat Jets Xtra 44-32.

The winning side were in control after each quarter, but the attacking combo of Tilly Gudgeon and Eryn Robinson ensured Xtra would not give in.

The Brights attack of Sharon Bassindale and Cara Perry were clinical and they were able to help their side take control of the contest, before going on to take the victory.

Robinsons Food secured their first win of the season, beating David Wilson Homes 49-34.

DWH's Becky Salmon (GA) and Rachel Noble (GS) were on top form, but the Robinsons shooters created more opportunities to provide them with the win.

In the other premier division game, Newbury 4x4 Centre 1 beat Hungerford Extra 62-53.

Newbury 4x4 Centres shooters Kerry Walker and Hannah Jones put Newbury into the lead after the first two quarters.

Hungerford made changes to try and find a way back into the contest, but Newbury held onto the lead to take the points.

Vipers are the only unbeaten team in Division 1 as they beat Jets White 32-24.

Vipers soon got into a groove with the introduction of shooting duo Jac Ambrose and Beth Abinger as they took a grip on the game.

Jets did battle until the end, playing some smooth netball, but Vipers did enough to get across the line.

Newbury 4x4 Centre 2 beat Jade Bailey’s Birds 37-19, with help from key player Julia Gaye and Lauren Woodley.

Along with Newbury’s defence, the attack of Kelly Blake and Claire Digweed was on point as they won the game.

Meanwhile, Tadley Witches beat Eclipse 49-25 as the hard work from George Moody and Liz Lemm played a pivotal role.

Elsewhere, Caravatti had to forfeit their game against Roots Estate Agents and the latter were awarded the points.

Hungerford Scarlets moved top of Division 2 after they beat Jets Orange 43-27.

GS Marianne Head and GA Hollie Morley were key for Scarlets as they gave their side a strong lead to build on.

Despite Jets winning the third quarter, Hungerford had control of the overall score and worked hard to get the win after help from Tally Gale and Isla Dalgaron.

In the other league game, Briars beat Acorn Managed Services 49-30 as defenders played their part.
