HUNGERFORD'Smixture of youth and experience could not negotiate another Red Insure Cup hurdle as they bowed out of the Evo Stik League Southern's League Cup on Monday night.
Goalkeeper Freddie Gee lined up only four hours after playing for the club’s academy side in their 3-0 Football Conference Alliance League Cup defeat against Dover Athletic at Newbury, while outfielders Chris Passey and Conor Lynch were limited to bench duties.
Gee kept a first half clean sheet as both sides made chances, and he did well to deny Adam Roberts shortly before the interval.
Winchester went ahead midway through the second half when Jamie Barron set up top scorer Warren Bentley to finish, and Barron netted in the closing stages to seal a home quarter-final tie with Godalming
