Goal-less at Gosport

Hungerford spurn a three point chance: Thatcham face Frome in cup action on Wednesday night

HUNGERFORD TOWN secured a point from a goal-less draw at Gosport Borough on Monday night to maintain their second spot in Division One South and West of the Evo Stik League Southern.

But they spurned the opportunity to take all three to close in on leaders Bideford after failing to match their approach work with decisive football around the box that produced few clear-cut chances.

Borough, without injured veteran marksman Steve Claridge, were kept well in check by the visiting defence, while Harry Goodger twice had shots barred and Nicholas Ogbanufe failed to test goalkeeper Nathan Ashmore when presented with a poor clearance, and the same player miscued a last minute chance in front of goal to claim the winner.

THATCHAM TOWN entertain Premier Division Frome Town at Waterside Park on Wednesday night, looking for a place in the last eight in the Red Insure League Cup.

Frome will be seeking revenge after Thatcham won 1-0 in Somerset in the FA Trophy in October.

The tie kicks off at 7.45pm.
