Goalkeeper choice for Newbury

NEWBURY manager Steve Melledew must choose between goalkeepers Shaun Gardiner and Simon Digweed for Saturday's short trip to Milton United as they continue to chase Hellenic League promotion.

With regular Jamie Thomas injured and Andy Bayliss needed by Burnham, Melledew will look to one of is two reserves to step in as Newbury go to a side placed second to bottom in the Division One East table.

Newbury beat Milton 2-0 at home in November, "but they have improved since then," said Melledew, who is likely to keep faith with the side that beat Thatcham reserves 4-0 in their last outing, despite adding Ben McCready, Hayden best, Marc Green and Chris Blackford to the squad.

LAMBOURN SPORTS can do Newbury a favour if they can extend their 11-match unbeaten league record when they take on leaders Highmoor Ibis at the Sports Club on Saturday.

Sports have not lost a league outing since their 2-1 defeat at Newbury on October 8, and during that spell they also ousted Saturday's visitors from the legaue's Bluefin Insurance Brokers League Cup after a penalty shoot-out.
