Gold for Leon Greenwood in St Moritz as Bobsleigh World Cup continues

Leon Greenwood won gold for Great Britain on Saturday as the Bobsleigh World Cup returned to St Moritz, Switzerland.

The Team Kennet sprint coach sealed Britain’s fourth successive podium alongside Brad Hall, Taylor Lawrence and Arran Gulliver.

They finished 0.21 seconds ahead of Francesco Friedrich’s dominant German squad, who had won the previous two races.

Greenwood and his teammates now sit just 51 points behind the Germans in the table, going into a double header in Lillehammer, Norway next month.

The team won gold in Winterberg, Germany, earlier this month, although Greenwood wasn’t in the sled.

He returned for the trip to St Moritz on the 12th, where they took bronze, before a silver in Innsbruck last weekend.

This latest gold puts the team in with a shot of winning the title, but they’ll need something close to two wins in Norway, unless Friedrich’s squad has an uncharacteristically low finish.

They’ll race on February 9, before going again on the 16th as the World Cup comes to its conclusion.
