Golden double for Annabel
Bobsleigh starlet stampedes to gold medals in Calgary
OLYMPIC bobsleigh hopeful Annabel Chaffey made a golden return to action when claiming two top awards in Calgary at the weekend.
The Hamstead Marshall teenager was in the GB Youth squad that collected eight medals in Canada in one of several events building up to the Youth Olympics in Lillehammer in February.
After finishing sixth in her first race behind British team-mate Kelsea Purchall, she won the second event 24 hours later.
Britain’s medal haul had performance director Gerry Anderson purring: “This is our best-ever medal haul at a single venue at youth or senior level.
“This is an absolutely fantastic start to the Youth Olympic season and one that we hope the British public will be very proud of.”
Annabel and her team-mates now move on to two events at Igle in Austria and two more at Norway’s Olympic venue before the qualifying campaign reaches its climax at St Moritz in Switzerland in January.
