Golf day in memory of West Berkshire prodigy
The Adam Clayton Golf Foundation financially supports young golfers struggling to pay for equipment, lessons, club membership and competition fees.
The charity was in 2009 in memory of Shaw golfer Adam Clayton, who died from a brain tumour in October 2008.
Donnington Grove Golf and Country Club will host the foundation’s third annual golf day, which is scheduled to take place on July 20 from 9am.
Chris Clayton said: “The golf day is an opportunity to remember Adam and to raise money to support young golfers who are struggling with the financial burden of the game.
“The foundation is our way of putting something back into the sport that Adam loved so much.
“The golf competition is nearly at capacity. The stableford format means that it will be competitive across all golfing abilities. There will also be extra competitions around the golf course including nearest the pin and longest drive.”
Following the golf there will also be a charity auction in the evening, with prizes including a 3-day break in the Algarve; a Colin Montgomerie Ryder Cup cap, a cricket bat signed by the England team, as well as a range of signed football shirts.
For those unable to attend, silent bids will be accepted prior to 6pm on July 20 via the Foundation’s Facebook page: Adam Clayton Golf, or by emailing paragonfs@live.co.uk.
