HUNGERFORD TOWN’S Academy side bowed out of the FA Youth Cup to a single goal in Wednesday night’s replayed Third Qualifying Round tie at Forest Green Rovers.

Hungerford had been leading 1-0 with six minutes to go of the original tie when a serious injury to a Green player forced an abandnent.

A 30th minute goal from Joe Stokes separated the teams although Conor Lynch went close to a first half equaliser when his effort was kept out by goalkeeper Luke Marchant.

Hungerford mounted heavy pressure after the interval with Merchant denying Lynch and Toby Bridges as the home side held out to claim a first round proper trip to Yeovil Town next week.
