Hampshire back in action

Hampshire's County Championship campaign gets under way next Thursday when they entertain Gloucestershire in their opening match following relegation to Division Two, although the players have had some sun on their backs having come through a pre-season tour of Barbados.
That cost them the services of bowler Kabir Ali for the start of the league programme after he sustained an ankle injury, but Hampshire will be rejoined by overseas player Simon Katich for the game with Loughborough. Katich was with Hampshire seven years ago and lines up alongside at least nine players who have come through the county's academy system.
They include Hamza Riazuddin, who spent last summer with Falkland, and previous Falkland player David Balcombe.
Jimmy Adams takes charge as captain for the first time in the following squad:
Jimmy Adams, David Griffiths, Simon Katich, Danny Briggs, Sean Ervine, James Tomlinson, Liam Dawson, Chris Wood, James Vince, Hamza Riazuddin, Michael Carberry, David Balcombe, Michael Bates.
Play on all three days starts at 11am and admission is free.
