Hamza hoists Falkland back to form




Falkland went into the game on the back of two successive losses to teams at the bottom of the Division Two West table. This time out they were facing the league’s top side but they came out on top by 95 runs.
They got off to a poor start when Jon Chandler went with the score on six but Sam Piper (26) and Bruce Martin (23) rallied before Riazuddin came in to make an unbeaten 101 as Falkland posted 217-7 in 58 overs.
Cove openers Saad Khan (44) and Russell Droy (11) put on 38 before Riazuddin made the breakthrough and went on to take 3-13 in nine overs while George Trewby also bagged three wickets as Cove reeled to 91-6 before skipper Neil Gunter mopped up the tail with a 3-26 haul as Cove were dismissed for 122 in 44 overs.,
The result dragged Cove off the top while Falkland reclaimed fourth spot, 23 points behind new leaders Dinton.
