NEWBURY BLUES face an in-form Oxford Harlequins wary of the threat that could come from a side that will target be targeting the hosts as they bid to continue a recent surge up the South West One East table.

Blues, looking for points in the race to beat Salisbury to the promotion play-off spot, are on a six-match winning streak, while Harlequins own run has come mostly from success at home, where they remain unbeaten this season and where they beat Blues 18-6 earlier in the campaign.

“We will treat them with a big amount of caution,” said Blues head coach Lee Goodall. “They are in very good form at the moment and are showing what they should have shown earlier in the season when they were a potentially credible force in this league.”

Blues are hoping to return to the first team pitch at Monks Lane after three walks up the hill to an outlying surface.

They will be without Ryan Trevaskis, Matt Horne and Jamie Futcher, and Jack Walsh has returned to New Zealand for the rest of the season. But they will welcome back Ryan Davis and Chris Guyatt return, and have signed their former Basingstoke colleague, prop Charlie Eaves, although is not available until next week.
