Harper's 'still a Championship player'
The 31-year old has had two run-outs for Hungerford in pre-season and is due to turn out in Saturday’s friendly at Horndean - if he has not found a lcub by then.
“I haven’t actually signed him yet,” said Wilkinson, “but he is playing for us and will sign if he is still with us when the league season starts.
“I’m delighted to have him here. Everybody knows he’s one of my best friends and if we get him for a week, a month or two months, he will be with us until he moves on.
“He just wants to play football and I think he’s flabbergasted that he hasn’t got a club yet.
“He’s still the fittest player you could meet and is probably in the best condition he’s ever been. He’ll definitely be back in the Championship again, but it’s good just to have him around. He gives everybody a massive lift.
“This will put him on the the radar, I hope.”
Wilkinson has signe done midfielder after snapping up former Swindon Town man Ian Herring from Eastleigh.
The 27 year old has also played for Forest Green, Salisbury and Northwich Victoria. “It’s a fantasric signing for us,” said Wilkinson.
Thatcham Town starts their pre-season fixtures with a double-header trip to Surrey side Westfield on Saturday.
