Have a go at bowls this Saturday as Thatcham hosts Bowls’ Big Weekend

Thatcham Bowling Club will play their part in Bowls’ Big Weekend on Saturday 24th May.

From 10:00 to 5:30, the club will open its doors to anyone who would like to give the sport a try.

It’s completely free to have a go, with no booking required.

Truly a game for everyone, bowls is a test of hand-eye coordination, concentration, strategy and teamwork.

Coaches will be on hand to assist newcomers of all ages and abilities, with refreshments available from the club’s well-stocked bar.

The club is based at Thatcham’s Memorial Playing Fields, and they will be opening their gates to all ages this weekend.

The Big Weekend is an initiative by the sport’s national body, Bowls England, which aims to boost participation and encourage first-time players.

The national event, sponsored by Aviva, is now in its fifth year with over 800 clubs across the country set to participate
