Hungerford make Carys and Ollie life members




HUNGERFORD Rugby Club welcomed back former junior players Carys Cox and Ollie Allan – both now international stars – on Sunday, August 4.

Cox started her rugby in the Mini section and was coached by a number of coaches, including former junior chairman, mother Tracy Cox and former club chairman and father Rob Cox.

She played for Hungerford juniors before moving onto a glittering career playing for Worcester Warriors to her current club Ealing Trailfinders.

She has also won international honours, regularly pulling on the red jersey of Wales and most recently starring by scoring a hat-trick in their must-win game against Spain in their World Cup qualifier.

Allan also started his rugby journey at Hungerford in the mini and junior Sections under the coaching tutelage of Matt Galbraith and former head and junior coach, junior chairman and father Steve Allan.

Allan, in conjunction with brother Tom who still plays for the club’s senior side, soon established themselves as exceptional talents and immersed themselves in the leading of their teams both at training and in games.

Ollie continued his development with London Irish before transferring onto his current club Leicester Tigers.

After making his Tigers debut, he has gone onto star as scrum-half for England Under-20s in their fantastic run in winning the World Cup against France in South Africa.

The club awarded bothplayers with life memberships and a framed 40th anniversary jersey to commemorate their fantastic achievements .

All at the club are extremely proud of the recognition they have brought to Hungerford Rugby Club and the Town.
