Home Trophy date after solid St Neots showing
Hungerford break-out to earn Third Qualifying Round home tie with Thamesmead

HUNGERFORD safely negotiated the awkward obstacle of St Neots to seal a home tie with Thamesmead in the Third Qualifying Round draw of the FA Trophy.
They will play the Ryman League Division North side at Bulpit Lane on November 28 after disposing of their Evo Stik League Premier Division rivals in Cambridgeshire on Saturday.
“We knew we had the pace to hit them on the break and we got it right and we’re in the next round with some money in the bank for the chairman,” said delighted manager Bobby WIlkinson
His side had much the better of the opening half when St Neots goalkeeper Andy Wilton saved well from Nat Jarvis as the teams went to the break goal-less.
Th visitors came under more pressure against the wind after the interval and Paul Strudley had to save from Tom Meechan, before Hungerford broke to score when Matt Day’s long ball was helped on to Garyn Preen to beat Wilton, although it was a short-lived lead until Jon Boardman went to meet Isaac Galliford’s corner but could only divert it into his own net.
Hungerford hit back with the winner however, Mark Draycott hooking the ball forward to find the home defence in a muddle as Stefan Brown strode clear to take his chance.
Hungerford make a quick return to league action tonight (Monday) when second in the table Redditch United visit Bulpit Lane for a 7.45pm kick off.
