Luke Humphries gets set for Ladbrokes Masters debut with opening round clash against Devon Petersen
Luke Humphries makes his debut in the Ladbrokes Masters this evening (Friday) when he faces Devon Petersen in round one.
The 26-year-old was due to face Nathan Aspinall in the opening round, but the world number 14 has withdrawn from the event in Milton Keynes due to injury.
It now means that Humphries will face Petersen – a player who is currently ranked 26th in the PDC Order of Merit.
Newbury’s Humphries has enjoyed a strong run of form as of late, which included him reaching his third World Championship quarter-final in four years.
However, he was unable to break past that stage as he was beaten by Gary Anderson in the tournament last month.
The game between the Humphries and Petersen will be live on ITV4 and they are the final game on stage.
The reward for the winner of tonight’s first round tie is a meeting with Michael van Gerwen in round two on Saturday evening.
