Luke Humphries has received a bye into the last-16 of the PDC World Darts Championship after Dave Chisnall tested positive for Covid-19.

Humphries and Chisnall were due to meet at Alexandra Palace on Wednesday (today), but the latter has returned a positive test and has therefore had to withdraw from the competition.

As a result, Newbury's Humphries progresses into the last-16 where he will face Chris Dobey tomorrow (Thursday).

Chizzy, who is ranked 14th in the world, becomes the third player to withdraw from the tournament with a positive test as Michael van Gerwen and Vincent van der Voort did so earlier in the week.

Dobey was due to play van Gerwen in the third round, but he too also received a bye to the last-16.

"I’m so sorry Chisnall," Humphries said after the announcement. "I’m absolutely gutted for you, this is not the way you want to win in the biggest tournament of them all.

"I hope you feel ok and have a speedy recovery!"
