Three goals in the final 20 minutes gave Hungerford a 4-1 win over Almondsbury Town

HUNGERFORD did their Zamaretto league promotion hopes a power of good with a 4-1 home win over Almondsbury Town as three goals in the final 20 minutes accounted for the side holding down the final play-off spot.

Hungerford had the best of the openings but had to wait until three minutes after the interval to make a breakthrough when Gareth Brown's shot from a corner deflected off a defender and wrong-footed Almondsbury goalkeeper Stuart Jones.

Almondsbury pulled level just after the hour mark when Ross Stearn met a long cross to beat Jon Henly, but Hungerford snapped up the points with their final burst.

Substitute Matt Pedder netted with his first touch when he headed home Jamie Gosling's cross, and Ryan Crockford hammered an effort into the top corner before Gosling burst through in stoppage time to cap his outstanding display.

Hungerford are again in home action tomorrow night (Tuesday) when they entertain the Cinderford Town side that knocked them out of the FA Trophy earlier this season.
