THIRTEEN disastrous minutes turned this game upside down for Hungerford as Dorchester repeated last season’s smash and grand and dealt The Crusaders their first home defeat of the season.

It took until the end of January for that record to be broken last term, whereas this was only the second week of the new campaign and it will leave manager Bobby Wilkinson scratching head to get things moving again with a trip to Redditch United only 48 hours away.

It was all going swimmingly for Hungerford as they took a 2-0 half-time lead. They went ahead midway through the first half with their first goal of the season, Nat Jarvis stooping to head home Mark Draycott’s cross, and it was Jarvis who struck again five minutes before the break when Jarvis pounced again to drive home the ball that had been cannoning about the box.

Hungerford had former ReadIng goalkeeper Dan Lincoln between the posts with Paul Strudley at a wedding, and Lincoln was beaten three times in a ferocious start to the second period.

Dorchester swept forward down the lines to pull Hungerford apart and they were on the scoersheet within 100 seconds when Matt Oldring won back a poor corner and drove into the area before crossing for Chris Dillon to tap in after the ball had gone through Lincoln on the ground.

Eight minutes later, Magpies were level when Ben Watson latched onto a long ball and teed up Oakley Hanger to score, and two minutes later the ball ricocheted around the six yard box before falling for Lewis Morgan to get the final touch and complete the turnaround.

Dorchester continued to pose the greater threat and Lincoln tipped over efforts from Watson and Bradley Tarbuck while Alan Walker-Harris kept out a similar James Clark attempt at the other end as Hungerford’s perfect defensive start was shattered.
