Hungerford defeated by Bishops Cleeve
Hungerford Town lost for the first time in the league since October on Saturday
HUNGERFORD TOWN will go into tonight's (Tuesday's) league derby with Thatcham reeling from their first Zamaretto League defeat since October after going down 1-0 at Bishops Cleeve on Saturday.
After beating Taunton from the penalty spot in midweek, Hungerford failed from 12 yards this time out when Ben McCready put his 30th minute effort wide after Cleeve's Alex Sykes had been penalised for handling;.
And the village side came back to snatch the decisive goal on the stroke of half-time when Kevin Slack burst through the middle to beat the advancing Kieron Drake.
Hungerford dominated the second period but struggled to create chances, and their afternoon was completed when Jon Boardman was sent off just before the end after apparently acting as peace-maker during a melee.
Hungerford Reserves got back to winning ways with their own 1-0 win over Farnborough Reserves at Bulpit Lane in the Hellenic League's Division One East.
The match-winning goal came on the half-hour when Steve Rackham headed home Tom Browne's corner before the reserves also had a man sent off when Danny Lachacz saw red before the interval.
Tadley Calleva went down 3-1 at home to Horndean in Division One of the Sydenhams Wessex League despite taking the lead early on through Peter White.
But Alex Milroy levelled the scores from the penalty spot and Tor Spicer struck before and after the interval to give the visitors the points.
